Upgrading treasures
When you first get a treasure it's effects aren't that great. By upgrading a treasure it becomes better and more valuable.
The max level a treasure can be is +9.
Common Upgrade requires coins, but the upgrade isn't 100% guaranteed. If it fails, you get gift points.
Special Upgrade uses the stated number of crystals and is guaranteed to upgrade the item to the next level.

If using Common Upgrade the chances of upgrading are as follows:
C Class
Has a near 100% chance to upgrade at all levels. |
B and A Class
Not sure but probably somewhere in between. I haven't upgraded an B or A class treasure yet |
S Class
+1, +2, +3: Has a 95%-100% chance to upgrade +4: Close to 50% chance to upgrade +5: Close to 40% chance to upgrade +6: Close to 30% chance to upgrade +7, +8: Close to 20% chance to upgrade +9: 10-15% chance to upgrade |
The probability of upgrading your treasure from +8 to +9 is quite low and the chance of it failing 10 times is high plus it'll cost you a lot of coins.
I would probably say using crystals is worth it for the final upgrade - you're probably looking around 45-50 crystals for the upgrade.

Upgrade costs
S Class (Special)
The Angel's Feather and Gold Drop's Gold Bar seems to be a special treasure in that their upgrade costs differ to other S Class treasures. There maybe more but I'm not sure which they are.
S Class (Normal) Example: Jellyco Cube's Lost Jellyco
Special A Class:
A Class Example: Zombie Cookie's Blood Cell
B Class Example: Cozy Yarn's Knitting Needles
C Class Example: Brave Cookie's Third Skull Button
